Message from our Group Scout Leader

Hello all. My first report as GSL!

Firstly I would like to take the opportunity to welcome you all back to another Scouting year and to wish you and your families a very happy New Year! I hope you all had a good Christmas break.

Special thanks, as ever, goes out to our brilliant team of volunteer leaders, committee members and behind the scenes helpers that keep this Scout group running!

I am looking forward to getting involved with all our sections over the coming year and I know it will be a great year full of many exciting and challenging opportunities for all our young people – exactly what Scouting is and should be about!

I will keep this message short as there will many more opportunities over the year for me to ramble on and hopefully I will meet many of you on various adventures as we progress. Please do get in touch if you have any issue you would like to discuss regarding the group.

We are a large, active, vibrant group and like all groups we are always looking for good people to get more involved; so again if you’re interested in helping – however small you feel the help maybe – then please do get in touch with myself, or another leader or a member of our Executive team.

Beavers are the youngest Scouting age group (6 to 8 years old) and the section where most of our young people start out. We have three full Colonies at the moment and need help with the leader teams running two of those. Please give some thought to becoming a Beaver leader – it is great fun and a very rewarding age group to work with – Silver Beavers (who meet on Tuesday’s 6PM to 7.15PM) and Kingfisher Beavers (who meet on Wednesday’s 4.30PM to 5.45PM) are in need of new leaders to join their teams – interested then give us a call for a no obligation chat!

Yours in Scouting

Paul Steptoe
